Hatim Tyabji, Chairman

Hatim Tyabji is a distinguished executive with an exceptional record. Hatim currently serves as Chairman of Jasper Wireless and Executive Chairman of Bytemobile. Previously, he was Chairman and CEO of VeriFone (NYSE), where he grew market capitalization from $30M to $1.5B, and later served as Chairman of Datacard Group. Prior to joining Bytemobile, Hatim was founding Chairman and CEO of Saraide, driving the convergence of the Internet and wireless telecommunications. Earlier, he held several positions at Sperry Corporation, the last being President, Information Systems — the number-three position in the 77,000-person company.

Hatim is also a member of the boards of directors of Best Buy (NYSE), Depotpoint, Merchant eSolutions, and TAFMO.

Hatim holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.B.A. in International Business. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the State University of New York. In 2007, he published Husband, Wife & Company: An Honest Perspective on Success in Life and Work, a book on the complex interrelationships between family and career.

 

Steven T. (Terry) Clontz, Senior Executive VP, Singapore Technologies Telemedia

Terry Clontz is a veteran in the telecoms industry with more than 40 years of experience, including 25 years working internationally. He is currently Senior Executive VP at Singapore Technologies Telemedia, a strategic investor in Info-communications businesses. Prior to STT Terry served as CEO at StarHub, a startup that grew to become the second largest telecommunications company in Singapore during his 11 year tenure. Before StarHub Terry was CEO and President of New York based IPC Information Systems Inc., a global leader in specialized voice trading systems for the financial industry. Earlier he held several senior executive positions at BellSouth’s International Group after beginning his career as an engineer at Southern Bell, BellSouth’s parent company.

In addition to serving on the Jasper board, Terry is the non-executive chairman of InterDigital Communications Corporation, and a non-executive Director on the boards of StarHub, Equinix, and Level 3.

Mr. Clontz earned his bachelor’s degree in physics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

 

Bruce Dunlevie, General Partner, Benchmark Capital

Bruce Dunlevie is a General Partner at Benchmark Capital. Bruce is a seasoned veteran of venture capital with more than 15 years experience in high-tech investing. Prior to Benchmark, Bruce spent six years as a general partner with Merrill, Pickard, Anderson & Eyre (MPAE). Before MPAE, Bruce served as general manager of the Personal Computer Division of Everex Systems, which he founded and grew to a multi-hundred million-dollar business unit. Prior to that, Bruce was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs & Co.

In addition to Jasper Wireless, Bruce's investments include Accept.com, Catapulse, Collabra, Encompass, Good Technology, Genesys Labs, Handspring, Matrix Semiconductor, Orchestria, Palm, Pure Digital Technologies Rambus, Raza Microelectronics, ServiceSource, SnapTrack, Tabula, Unicra and Wink Communications.

Bruce holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar; and a BA from Rice University.

 

Gaurav Garg, Investor in Enterprise and Mobile Technology Companies

Gaurav Garg serves on a number of private company boards including Ruckus Wireless, Jasper Wireless, FireEye, MobileIron, Shape Security, and Instart. He was a board member at Netscaler (acquired by Citrix), and was deeply involved with Sequoia’s investments in Aruba (Nasdaq: ARUN), Jawbone, and Ring Central.

Gaurav was a Partner at Sequoia Capital from 2001 to 2010, and a Special Limited Partner from 2010-2012. Prior to Sequoia, he was a founder, board member, and Senior Vice President of Product Management at Redback Networks (Nasdaq: RBAK). Gaurav holds a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering and a BS in Computer Science, all from Washington University in St. Louis.

 

Mohan Gyani, former President and CEO, AT&T Wireless Mobility Group

Mohan is a wireless industry veteran. Mohan was the former President and CEO of AT&T Wireless Mobility Group. He has played key roles in the $1.6 Billion IPO of AirTouch in 1993 and the $10.6 Billion IPO of AT&T Wireless in 2000.

Mohan led AT&T Wireless domestic voice and data mobility businesses, focusing on completing the expansion of the company's footprint across the U.S. and accelerating growth, particularly in the wireless data business. He was instrumental in helping produce industry pacesetting growth in subscribers and revenue while improving profitability and evolving the business to mainstream next generation technology.

Following the merger of Vodafone and AirTouch, Mohan was the head of Strategy and Corporate Development and served on the Board of Directors for Vodafone AirTouch PLC. Prior to the merger, Mohan was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of AirTouch.

Mohan also serves on the Board of Safeway Inc., Roamware (where he is Vice Chairman), SiRF Technology, the Asian Pacific Fund and Tellme Networks.

 

Jahangir Mohammed, CEO

Jahangir founded Jasper Wireless in 2005 and serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer.

Prior to founding Jasper Wireless, Jahangir founded and served as the CEO of Kineto Wireless. At Kineto, he pioneered technologies to converge GSM and Wi-Fi that became a GSMA standard. Previously, Jahangir worked at AT&T Bell laboratories.

Jahangir holds an MSEE from Concordia University in Montreal and a BE from CIT in India.

 

Amy Raskin, Senior Vice President and Director of Research, US Growth Equities and Research on Strategic Change, AllianceBernstein

Ms. Raskin oversees two research teams at AllianceBernstein. One team, Research on Strategic Change, focuses on secular changes powerful enough to impact corporate performance across multiple sectors. The other research team, Early Stage Growth, focuses on emerging innovations that have the potential to be disruptive from a technological or business model perspective. Ms. Raskin also manages the Firm’s venture capital funds and is a member of the US Strategic Research Investment Strategy Committee. She joined the firm in 2000 as a US growth equity analyst covering networking and telecom equipment, a position she held until the fall of 2006.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Raskin worked as a telecom analyst for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and as an investment banking associate for Lehman Brothers. She also worked at J.P. Morgan as a telecommunications products manager.

Ms. Raskin graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BSE in Engineering. Location: New York

 

Antonio Viana-Baptista, former Chairman and CEO, Telefónica Moviles and Telefónica International

Mr. Viana-Baptista has held Chief Executive roles at Telefónica since 1998 including General Manager, CEO, Telefónica Spain; Chairman and CEO, Telefónica Moviles and Telefónica International. He held previous positions with Banco Portugues de Investimento as Executive Director and with McKinsey & Company as Principal Director, Madrid, Spain and Lisbon. Mr. Viana-Baptista is currently a Director of several luminary companies, including: Research in Motion (Canada), SA (Brazil) and NH Hoteles (Spain). Mr. Viana-Baptista has a Masters degree in Economics from the Universidade Catolica Lisbon, Portugal and a Masters of Business Administration, Honors and Distinction, from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
